What To Expect During Dental Implant Treatment

Consultation

Our dental professionals in in Los Algodones or San Luis Rio will use our advanced 3D technology to evaluate your oral health, bone density, and more and determine which dental treatment or combination of treatments will restore your smile.

Preparatory Work

Implants need a healthy foundation to last and to function at their best. Some patients will require preparatory dental care to ensure successful results. Some preparatory work, like tooth extractions, can be performed on the same day as implant placement. However, other treatments, like bone grafts or sinus lifts, must be completed in separate appointments.

IV Sedation

We bring in an anesthesiologist to provide IV sedation for your procedure. You should be asleep and comfortable and have no memory of the surgery.

Implant Placement

Using a surgical guide, our dentist will create an incision where the titanium post will be inserted.

Osseointegration

Over the next three to six months, your jawbone will heal and fuse with your dental implant through a process called osseointegration. Most patients can receive a temporary restoration during this time.

Abutment Placement

After you heal, another incision is made above your implant so the abutment can be attached. Another healing period is required, which is about two weeks long.

Restoration Creation

Our upstairs lab utilizes top-of-the-line 3D printers and milling machines to create the best-looking dental crowns, bridges, and dentures. Our doctors oversee the creation and have full control of the design to ensure they look just like your natural teeth.

Restoration Placement

You will visit us in Los Algodones or San Luis Rio for the final time to have your restorations placed. Our dentist will make any final adjustments to ensure a secure fit. Once your restorations are placed, you can chew, speak, and smile with ease.
